Best week...Part 4

Today's a very special day - my baptism:

First, an interesting note about my baptismal gown...The gown has been passed down in my family since baby Nonno Giovanni first wore it, almost 70 years ago. I'm the 19th baby to be baptized in it, and the first in my generation. Talk about tradition!

Into the church we go....

The first half of the ceremony, I was feeling a little sleepy and cranky, as I'd missed my nap for the day and didn't quite understand what was going on...   

Then the priest did a very interesting thing...he invited all the children to come up, touch the holy water, and join my godparents (Zia Leti was there in spirit!) in surrounding me as I got baptized. My parents were so moved, especially my mom. She couldn't have asked for a more beautiful gesture to welcome me on this spiritual journey. I was being blessed by the children!    

And then came the big moment...ahhhhhhh, I love water! Instantly, my fussiness turned into a peaceful calm. I guess this baptism stuff really works! As an extra bonus, the priest also individually blessed my parents, which made my mamma cry.  :)

Today was the highlight of my best week ever...I'm so fortunate both sides of my family were here to help me celebrate.
